Really dumb question.

what's the difference between the bumper and bumper skin! On a Subaru Blitzen (if that makes a difference!)

I put a hole in the bumper (or is it the bumper skin!) and now am confused what exactly it is that needs replaced (yes, I said it was a dumb question, be nice ;) )

Found this,

The bumper cover is likely what you would view as the bumper. It's the fiberglass piece that gets scratched up or cracked in an accident. There is structural support underneath the cover that is designed to absorb impact, this is the actual bumper. As long as there is no damage to the structure beneath all you need is the cover.

As kind of said above. Bumper (or bumper skin) is just the palstic/fibreglass bit you see. Bumper support panel (metal) is what holds the bumper on.

If you put a hole in your bumper support panel, then the front/rear of the car (which ever one it is) would be toast.

Hope this makes sence.
