Lets not forget all those pricks who buy their parts online from offshore, thus avoiding GST & other taxes. (sound familiar).
That lost revenue has got to come from somewhere.

Some parts you can't even buy here, and if you can i will happily pay 250 vs 1000 like some parts shop charge.

Sorry, but lets not forget that you do pay a duty tax on anything over $300. Anything under is a very small amount of tax.
Also money saved by buying from over seas is more money in back pocket to spend on other local things that aren't so over priced. Not to mention you can't get a lot of stuff here even if you wanted to.

If you think this is bad wait until the exporters get their way and the $NZ falls on its sword like they want, fuel through the roof, everything else follows, inflation back to horrific levels, but hang on, oh yes, forgot, the poor poor Fontera`s and exporters will share their profits, "NOT"

Petrol prices go up and down all the time.yet we survive. Instead of the oil companies getting the increase the govt is. Pitty they did not increase earlier and spend it on roads when the cost to build/repair the roads was cheaper. The longer they put off building the essential roads the bigger the cost.and more taxes to pay for them.
