Was driving home today from being away (2.5 hour drive) and with about an hour to go I noticed every time I braked the radio would cut out for a few seconds and the speedo etc hands/sticks would dip then go back.Get back into town and a high pitch sort of whine starts up and gets louder with acceleration.Stop car, go and do something, come back to car and it's as dead as a doornail.Doesn't even turn over.
Will call state roadside rescue to tow me to a garage tomorrow.
Does this issue sound familiar to anyone!

Yes as above sounds like alternator issue. As you braked that took the power out of the battery hence the radio/speedo. Time for a checy of the battery/ alternator and belts. Not too bad an issue.

Don't bother, your car doesn't have a battery related problem.

Do this first ^^^^^ and go from there. The battery will be drained if you had a charging problem (alternator).
