Can a broken lock cause a flat battery

I have central locking on my car and the drivers side is broken and wont lock.I got a flat battery yesterday, are the two connected, could the lock that wont work cause a flat battery in any way.I checked car over and nothing else would have caused the flat battery unless ts just old now and need replacing.
My car is a 2004 and the battery looks like the original.

If your door lock has been broken for a while, i doubt very much tha it is a cause.
8 or9 years is a good innings for a battery. Have it tested before you replace it though.

its only been broken for about 3 weeks the lock. can it slowly run the battery out or is it unrelated.

Id be getting the battery tested thats ancient in battery terms and more likely at fault

Jezz, 8-9 years from a Battery, that would have to be some sort of record.
