Mechanic recommendation for fixing accident damage

I need a recommendation or too for my gf's car, a Toyota Vitz, which had a fight with a RAV4 and has a smashed up front. It needs replacement bumpers, collision bar, and a few other bits and pieces put back on. She took it to Toyota and their quote would make the car a write-off.

I'm concerned their quote was too much along the lines of "restore everything to as-new condition" when what we really want is "runs ok and will pass a WOF". no need to obsess too much about the fine details.

Who's a reputable and reliable mechanic in central or west Auckland who'll use a bit of common sense along these lines!

We will try to find parts from wreckers to the extent possible.

You need a panel and paint shop, not a mechanical workshop. Toyota dealer will be outsourcing the work, quoting all new parts and then adding a margin, thus the high price. Go direct to a panel shop. Someone on here will be able to recommend one in your area.

There is a good one on Patiki Rd, Avondale and another good one on Dunlop Rd up by Westgate.

I take it that you have no insurance!

Yeah it might be a panel & paint job mostly. Here is a complete list of the things to-do that I can identify.

??? Front bumper, upper and lower, need replacement
??? Collision bar
??? Wheel guard liners ??

And if you have no insurance, why not!
