It may be a blocked fuel filter. Under load it's not getting enough petrol to the engine. Also pay to check that the electric fuel pump is buzzing/ working when you turn on the ignition and that it is whirring away when the motor is running. You should be able to hear it quite audibly in the vicinity of the petrol tank.

that would do it , cant agree with poppys idea , fuelfilter blockedstarfs it on high demand it be hopping under load then not at idle in my opinion hmm Stalls when reversing too you both could be right . butwe dontwant to replace every part on the car to try and fix it theseare mintainace parts whom should be changed anyhow if there is no record of resent new parts

na it wont be a fuel filter notwith this comment around city and back home with no problem cant rule out a trans problem or a component actuating the start clutch of the trans but it can easy be something elsedepending what the koreans put on this car electronicwise new or old technology

you need to post transmission code off carjam if its a c.v.t or normal trans. a matiz seems to bea chevrolet product.

Hey Intrade! read the symptoms in # 13.a fuel filter can crap out without notice. It stalls under load in reverse and bunny hops unless light pressure is applied.sound like fuel problem to me. 2004 car probably never had a fuel filter replaced. Only other thing may point to a faulty fuel relay.

Hi thanks for the information/theories on what could be wrong with my wee car I'm thinking best thing to do is to take it to mechanic get it hooked up to their computer thingie to see if it has any faults, not sure how to obtain transmission no. From car jam it just says 4 gear automatic, when checked trans dipstick, fluid was clean and didn't smell burnt (no smell at all really), car is driveable just can't accelerate quickly or it hops once up and moving drives along okay,it is just at initial take off acceleration it starts to bunny hop.

Check the big black intake hose between where it attaches to the engine and the black plastic box at the other end, remove it completely and give it a bend and look for any signs of splitting in it.Its awfully suspicious that its playing up when the engine is moving the most on its mounts, ie when rapidly accelerated.Any leakage in this tube upsets airflow sensor readings-> not enough fuel gets injected->engine backs off->split closes->normal acceleration resumes->split opens ->fuel backs off->repeats.If you do find damage, clean the area around the crack so its not greasy and run several loops of electrical tape around it, refit to car and see what happens.

56 thousand km on clock,purchased at 50 thousand so no service as of yet, does say on the windscreen ticket that needs an oil change at 56 so is due for one now.
