ABS was first invented and used for aircraft in 1929. I recall reading that WW2 Lancaster bombers had ABS. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anti-lock_braking_system

The Ferguson car R5. Not the prettiest but just a development mule.
designed by Harry Ferguson Research was truly 40 years ahead of its time. With four wheel drive, anti-skid braking, electric windows, disc brakes and a hatchback design it was the forerunner of the modern car.
