He is doing well for his first year in a fully works backed team ,but world champ is a big ask especially against the europeans who live for ,breath and sleep rallying.20 seconds is a massive diference on any stage but if he continues to improve who knows, he is certainly heading in the right direction.

Hyundai is doing well considering the car is 18 months or more behind the VW and years behind Ford and Citroen in the development timeline. The Hyundai engineers must be skilled as Paddon's engineer was Ogier's engineer at Citroen?

after a lot of carnage in the rally Hyundai have their 1st win . Paddon wasn't entered .
and even more so at the end of yesterday . Neuville lost time with broken suspension but should claw back some places . local hope Atkinson is off the pace .
20 Seconds not much in his first year, Got the hunger - watch this space

20 Secs on a single stage is in learners territory, but he has been on the pace in this rally and only 3.9 secs slower on the live feed in todays stage. To finish in 6th place is incredible in only his 4 th fully professional drive with the big boys. If he keeps improving with another season under him he will be challenging for stage wins without a doubt. He has the maturity as well as a good co driver to guide him and keep him on the island.

20 Secs on a single stage is in learners territory - sheks next you will be telling me rallying is a sport where 1000th of a second can separate drivers. Being as smart as he is he was never going to go like a bull out of a gate to start with. Good to see you have solidified your tune from up the page. go kiwi go .

Brilliant! Will he be nominated for the Halbergs?.
One stage win on an international rally, surely equates to lobbing a javelin or cannonball or winning one 100m sprint on foot or 400m on the water, gaining a medal? Or does a motorsport hero have to win a whole series of anything to be worthy of acclaim?
