Just had my audi serviced at the dealer $143 for wiper blades . Thanks but nnothanks.

twincam1, Jan 19, 11:17pm
Blades are only $6/7

siobhan41, Jan 19, 11:22pm
And $135 if you want and audi tech to fit them haha.

a.woodrow, Jan 19, 11:25pm
refills are, blades aren't.

twincam1, Jan 19, 11:36pm
A8 complete blades $50

a.woodrow, Jan 19, 11:37pm
not $6-7 then. does OP own an A8?

franc123, Jan 19, 11:40pm
Given that these newfangled frameless wiper blade assemblies often retail for 45-50$ per side genuine for Jappas then its no surprise that one for your Superior European Car will cost more. Repcos price for exacly the same thing could be 170$ so I wouldn't diss the agent until you did some local research.

twincam1, Jan 19, 11:41pm
Pedantic. OP, always buy parts direct from Germany, almost always half the price you pay here inclusive of postage.

twincam1, Jan 19, 11:43pm
I doubt the blade carrier is stuffed unless Audi is 30yr old.

siobhan41, Jan 20, 12:50am
11000kms 2012 and A1 so as audis go budget end of the scale .

siobhan41, Jan 20, 12:52am
Anyway standard service with brake fluid change $900 can't complain to much

skyblue17, Jan 20, 2:24am
That's a hell of a price for a service. Do you realise there are watchers on this messageboard hoping to buy a Suzuki Swift award-winning fun hatchback for not much more than that.? Show some empathy eh.?

^^^ how do you think the boss can get his $250 G PA salary & pay for the dolly bird at front desk & the flash building & all the white coats for the " service engineers " on $100G Pa

I suggest you try a good indepentand Audi/VW specialist next time. Somewhere like Burger Motor Works. The thing an Audi is some dealers are "Prestige" dealers who spend money on things like a Barista to make you good coffee while you wait and an enormous amount of rent etc.

VW/Audi parts are not expensive as such, in fact they are very well priced, however just like you can go and spend $7 on a can of Coke at an expensive Hotels mini bar you can pay significantly more for the same thing with servicing.

That said, the new style (and vastly superior) wiper blades we have nowadays do cost more. I import mine direct and they still cost me something like $27 a pair. There is nothing to stop you doing the same if you want, just jump on ebay etc it's not difficult. Nor are they difficult to fit. Just make sure you are getting the correct ones for your year/make/model.

Best of luck with it, and good on you for coming on here and comparing prices.

Could you post what exactly was done?

matarautrader, Jan 20, 4:49am

^^^ bloody hell!

siobhan41, Jan 20, 5:15am
Pretty much.

siobhan41, Jan 20, 6:02am
Oh well I can rest easy knowing I'm helping Mitch Evans get into F1.

nzdoug, Jan 20, 6:05am
I paid a similar amount for my VW CC.
The thing that rotted me was you couldnt get better than factory, not even on Amazon or eBay.
Why cant we get RED? YELLOW!
WTF ?
Who makes Super Flash?

You're on good drugs?!

mojo49, Jan 20, 6:18am
Image is expensive. I service my Nissan for $40 every 6 months and have a good squizz underneath while I am changing the oil. I do everything on that service list in under an hour. I test drive it nearly every day! My mechanic also has a good squizz underneath it when he does the yearly WOF for $40.

twincam1, Jan 20, 6:43am
You were ripped off. $300 to do that service.

a.woodrow, Jan 20, 8:41am
What kind of audi do you have?
