We had just been diverted around the fatality at Cave./Orari,. . On the way home from Ashburton ,late sunday afternoon some dippstick At the South Temuka town exit, tried to merge to the main road traffic , in his Toyota 4 x4 ,he tried to push me over , he would not accelerate or slow down, and tried to bump push into my Ford Courier tow vehicle ,prick he wanted the space i was in , f**ker ,i was doing a steady 80klm as per the speed sign , Fuck did he get a fright when he realized i wasn't couldn't accelerate out of his way ,with the trailer and car on the back , i didn't want to hard brake at that speed and have the trailer fish-knife ,. at the last sec he backed off and went to slide behind my ute . double dipper wanker ,for f**k- suck ive got my lights on and its a trailer full of towed vehicle! He couldn't/ did not / didnt want to ,see the trailer, and scratched it down the right hand side of his 4x4 ,Barstard could of killed us all ! . i was watching it all unfold in the mirror ,going f**k f**k f**k ,the trailer swayed and bucked a bit ,i slammed it into third ,(was in fourth) and red lined my ute to get away from him . . prick eventually turned off or stopped ,presumably, to see what damage had been done . hope it's heaps. now i have to explain, to the hire out fit the scrapes and scratches on their brand new ish trailer ,,,, bummer . will it cost me? or will the insurance pay forit bum de bumm thats all i need .
the stress of that triggered a minor angina attack while i was eating my tea, fnk hell ,just as well,it wasn't when i was driving.
Tow vehicle seems unscathed .

Did you get a rego? I would report this to the Police and get a case number off them. You can then pass the case number on to the hire company which should mean that you will not be held liable by the insurance company
The driver clearly should not be on the road and is an ongoing danger, another reason this needs to be reported

thats why you should have dash cam, especially a rear mounted one.
we get that a lot and truckies get it a huge amount. but worse thing is if you slow down and let him past the car behind also wants to go through to, right when your slotting in behind the first one.
end of the day your quite right, hes the one doing the overtaking, its up to him to overtake or pull back.

You are going to struggle to get any insurance assistance.
By law, if you are involved in a motor accident you are required to stop and pass your info to the other driver, works both ways. You failed to. This is material as what you did hindered the insurance company from making a claim against the other driver.

Drove out to the Beach hop for a perve on Friday morning. Going out the other side of Whitikahu at 100kmh or more. A F***Tard Tractor driver pulled up from a side road with his silage prongs sticking out a metre into my lane. Jesus H Christ, did HE get the angry horn! I wish now that I had just stopped in the middle of the road and taken a photo of the idiot.

I was pulling a car transporter trailer , car on it with my ute ;he was right along side me for at least 20 seconds, when he tried to pull in behind , and nearly took out my trailer with the car on ,he eventually managed to wake up and evade the trailer . . there is limited space to pull over there ,yellow lines, and a lane merge ,going South just out of the Temuka Township
. He was driving in his own little world not once did he glance at my ute or move his head at all, until the last seconds ,when he was within touching distance , he suddenly woke up, and tried to drive behind my ute.
As you can see for a ute towing a car transporter trailer, there are limited opportunities to pull over ,certainly no space for following traffic to safely negotiate past, a wide trailer ,especially at 80 klm with a Nutter behind me.
by the time i got to the approach to the second bridge he was gone.
At no time did i see his number plate, he was along side me most of the time ,then swerving and pulling back along side the trailer ,then pulling in behind the ute /trailer, and following me south along the road.
The incident took only a few seconds, 30 to 40 seconds at most, but my heart rate must of doubled, and the fear and fright didn't do my poor old body any favors. Could i have stopped ? probably ,was there a space to safely pull over and check trailer ,no not at that time and in traffic ,certainly not with that wide trailer .

How much damage was there to the trailer? If its just paint they may flag it under the circumstances - have you talked to the hire company yet? Hopefully this "driver" sustained massive damage to the vehicle - side of a modern 4x4 vs side of a transporter trailer I'd say they would have come off far far worse. With any luck its written their vehcile off which will have made the roads that little bit safer for the rest of us

Sounds like you were going to fast for the conditions, you need to slow down! There is a law along the lines that you must be able to stop in half the distance of viewable road (not the same words but similar).

Maybe the other tosser should have been paying attention in the first place.

I meet a lot of these clowns on the road ,when they are meant to merge like a zip and because they are in a big 4x4 they think they own the road and are oblivious to anyone else.

Thanks for your input ,its interesting ,how other people interpret ,an incident like this. 1/2 hour before my little hicup. . The little silver Honda Fatality at Orari ,i pulled over to let him past, just south at Ashburton, was driven by some one with other things on their mind . . He was reading/ looking at something on the passenger seat when he drove, at open road speed into the stock truck i and killed himself . the stock truck and a row of other trafffic i let past me just South Of Ashburton
So clearly you were not going too fast. Probably on the slow side, and you were stopping to let people past on a regular basis by the sound of it. I wish there were more like you on the road
Have you managed to discuss this with the trailer hire company yet? Hope they went/ go easy on you

. Yes the trailer was new ish and built like a brick s**t house ,it has a few paint and scratch marks on it ,but the post hire inspection just noted a slightly bent ramp bracket, which bent back into place by jumping on it. . will not hire such a trailer , for my purchases again , it was too heavy and too wide . . hope the 4 x4 driver has learn't his lesson he got away lightly ! Stay awake and alert and focus on what you are doing. look out the bloody window screen and see whats happening down the road ,check your mirrors ,and turn you head to see what the mirrors don't show you. . Be careful out there, there are nutters about ,and its Easter weekend a Double Jeopardy opportunity. . We are off to the Easter show at the Mckenzie A & P Show $15 at ticket each adult. http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~nzlscant/fairlie_show.htmhttps://www.facebook.com/FairlieNZ .

Glad to hear it all worked out OK for you in the end. Hope the 4x4 has several thousands worth of damage, serves them right for driving while asleep
