What engine, if its a W8 then you will need shares in a local fuel company. If its a 1.8T and 2002 is probably a singapore import, and if new oil pump required, damage may have already occured (they are prone to sludge build-up if wrong oil used).
We have a 2002 V5 passat - got it cheap and its great, was slightly concerned about fuel economy but its fine (avg 10km per litre half town and country).

if the oil pump is broken then the engine is stuffed is what it usually tells me, this goes for any engine , we dont know maybe some moron just did read out a code relating to oil pump and then concluded that part needs to be exchanged .

You only want gilltrap prestige stamps in a service booklet of a vw serviced in auckland

Well you would want to get it real cheap.like $1000, then if its stuffed sell for parts, no good resale.

Still not worth it at that, you can buy a good going one for very little more.
