Just thought I'd update on tapping in a Mitsubishi

Legnum, people on here and even a mechanic I spoke to thought it was the lifters that was making the noise, well it wasn't ????
Car crapped out so was taken to the mechanic, blardy alternators shat itself and he found out why the car was tapping, it turns out that whoever changed the cambelt last didn't put in a new tensioner and obviously the old one broke, so apart from the alternator dying I'am stoaked that the freakin annoying tapping is finally going to be fixed!

Nope can happen to anything if some cheapskate only changes the belt. I would hope that nobody would be reusing the hydraulic type tensioners on some of those engines.

poor mechanical skills if they cant even figure that a tap comes from outside or inside the engine.
