Trojan suspension

smallwoods, Nov 3, 10:31am
Just had one Trojan arm give up the ghost, is a tandem axle.
The new ones are more off set and means I'll have to replace two or all four.
Even then they will stick outside the mud guards about 40mm.

Any ideas?

Is this the 'duration torque' type?

Weld repair?

Durtoque?.
They are quite old.
The rubbers in one are buggered and are coming out the open end.
Also the brake caliper holes are not the same distance.

I had new rubbers put in the caravan a couple of years back. just took the whole axle into Wiri, done the same week.

If one of your rubbers is "buggered" then you should replace them all.
The arms will only need replacing if they are rusty or bent.
The guys at the factory will soon tell you that.

Trojan make "old type" and new - the main difference is less offset between the outer mount bolts and the stub axle.
Shop around on price - there are (or were) even some sellers on TM offering good prices.
I replaced both pairs on my boat trailer a few years ago rather than repack them - the galv was getting pretty stuffed.
Transit engineering Chch might be able to supply an adapter plate for the caliper mount if there's an issue with hole spacing. Take measurements and phone them.

Rung them, about $100 per axle to repack.

Cheers all.
