Hydrofoil question

i have just bought a thundercat. i see plenty of boats using these but wonder why the engine manufacturer's dont have them as standard?. use more fuel?

Provided you are adequately powered and the hull is well designed with no hook or rocker, an additional foil should be totally unnecessary.

An extended cavitation plate (such as a Permatim, Dolfin, Hydrofoil etc) will raise the transom at low - moderate speeds, which will bring the boat onto the plane earlier and help it stay on the plane at lower speeds.

That transom raise in effect pushes the bow down.

For some boats, in some sea conditions, it's a wonder. For other boats less so. I'm glad they are not 'standard', but it's also great that they are so cheap and easy to fit if your boat, and style of use, make one a positive
