why is it when following the VF commodore if I get too close my radar detector goes off saying K band and no its not a police car LOL

Possibly the reversing sensor?

The valentine 1 go off with a laser warning when the new Honda RS Jazz is coming towards it also.

With the amount of cars using radar sensors for various things now, radar detectors must give heaps of false positive readings wouldn't they?
Or do the car makers use different frequencies?

I would hazard a guess blind spot alert on holden. Probably the only active radar while driving all others are reverse and parking.

yep as above, blind spot monitoring.

it won't be parking sensors, those are ultrasonic not radar.

active cruise control is often radar based as well (except for subaru which use cameras)

cheers everyone

Subaru active cruise; that explains why the damn thing kept losing the car in front in corners! Though I suppose the radar ones would too. All this intelligent tech still not as good as a human.

I heard (from a hippy in golden bay) that as part of the trans Tasman deal they have speed radar and camera built in for following cars. Expect to get a ticket soon.
