Can anyone please tell me where the block coolant drain is actually on them . have googled but bit vague . all the bolts look the same 93 HD81 4.2 diesel

why do you need to find it ? surely taking off the bottom radiator hose would drain all the coolant out of the block aswell as the radiator.

It will be a chunky 14mm single hex gallery plug about 100mm up from the bottom edge of the block.

They are not equipped with block drains for no reason. Once the coolant level has fallen to the bottom of the water pump it won't drain any further, and with a north-south engine that of course is sloped back slightly in situ there will be a substantial amount of coolant still sitting in the bottom of the jackets at the rear of the engine It also enables far more effective flushing with it removed.

coz he asked. :). and removing the bottom hose. wont drain the block. on most motors. let only a 1HDT :)
