Seatbelt question

Hiya. The seatbelt buckle on the 2003 Colt front passenger side has given up the ghost. Can I just replace the buckle and stalk (bit attached to the seat) or do I need to replace the other end as well ie. are they are specific matching pair? I'm guessing a new buckle only would do? Any thoughts?

Yes that's fine but you need to get it out of an identical vehicle, this is especially so if its a pretensioner type. There are several different tongue styles (the bit that plugs in to the buckle) used in modern cars that look similar but simply aren't interchangeable.

Cool thanks for that

I agree with what franc is trying to say. But I'll rephrase a bit. You need an identical PART. doesn't mean it has to come from the exact same vehicle.
So if you remove the stalk.--Should be one 14mm bolt to undoo then if theres a wire you unplug it.
Take this part to a wrecker and they will match it up for you.
I would take a tracing of the buckle or preferably take the car itself to make sure it buckles correctly
