Our Sentra needs another driver's seatbelt. Would a passenger one fit?

No the mounting will be different. Seatbelts handed? (o: Please don't mess around when it comes to seat belts!

the seat BELT is not specific to a side of the car. But the retractor mechanism IS. It will mount up but wont work,

Have a look at both sides trog. If they look the same, they're ambidextrous. (Jeez - that didn't get a red line under it!)

All belts are sided and usually will not work properly if not fitted in the correct position, it may not pull out correctly and the dual locking system won't work either. This is tested at WOF.

Can't remember the exact figures, but the numbers on the retractor dictate which way the belt goes ie the belt on the right will exit the mechanism with the expectation that belt is going or pulling slightly forwards. Put it on the opposite side and it will be going the wrong way. The link below and putting in Sentra shows a different number for the passenger side and the driver side.
PS: I bought my web grabber belts from the local supplier, but used APV belts.

All belts are not sided. Generic aftermarkets are sold based on the mounting angle. The most common were the 80/90 (and the other side 100/90) which were indeed handed. There are 90/90 mountings however. If your retractors mount straight up then it is quite possible that they could be swapped (not sure what you hope to achieve though).
