xs1100, Jan 18, 12:48am
fantastic that hes alive, now just hope that its a fault with the truck or he wont be driving again for a living

kevymtnz, Jan 18, 12:58am
reminds me of the Takanini one where the truck knocked out 2 concrete dividers ended up on it side with truck on one side of the motorway and the trailer on the other

trogedon, Jan 18, 2:19am
Yek!

henderson_guy, Jan 18, 2:21am
I doubt it would be a fault with the truck (unless a possible blowout), but there are many possible scenarios for this to have happened, not all with the driver being at fault.

He doesn't need a lotto ticket, he needs some new undies.

Here's what happened to a similar truckload last September.

Reinstating the SH1 guardrail was the least of of our worries.

My brother drives for them and his truck is a Volvo, new 18 months ago. It's not him, we think he is in the South Island at the moment. I now know his trailer is 2 axle not 3. He's been with them for a few years but been truck driving for just over 30 years.

This is a 5 axle trailer, a near new unit, driver had stopped 3 times previous to this incedent, so maybe a medical event.

mrfxit, Jan 18, 10:44pm
Anybody want to take a guess at what the truck & trailers cost.
Never mind the cost of the clean up,
Basic maths on the cleanup shouldn't be to hard but the outreaching repercussions of time lost/ diversions etc on everybody effected would be HUGE

My neighbour is a mechanic for a small outfit here in Dargaville.
They recently put a new truck and trailer (Stock cartage) on the road and he thought it would have cost about 100 grand.

Same stupid newspaper reporting a accident on a "motorway" in Northland. A caravan fell over at Topuni on Highway 1. It's only a couple of weeks since I was there and sure wasn't a MOTORWAY then.
Reporters seem to have absolutely no idea what they are on about or where it's happening.

Mate brought a s/h swinglift a few years ago & that around 200k ( I think)

mrfxit, Jan 19, 5:07am
100k for the extra bits & still s/h rates

I was just repeating what the other brother told my parents, and he was obviously referring to the rear configuration.
