Worked in the area and know it quite well. It would have taken many hours to get rescue equipment etc. there.
Also saw a road train with smoke coming off a rear tractor tire in central NSW. I got the truck stopped and drove to the neatest town (no cell phones then). Alerted the Fire Unit and went back to the truck, fortunately he had detached the tractor and moved it away, he had many tons of fertilizer and diesel on board. At the time I wondered why the driver panicked so much.

Sorry guys and gals, just checked, about half a mill. Bit bigger than stuff I drove.
