Electric cars are there. Trouble free as claimed.

Fixed it for you.

And a $100 software patch fixes the Leaf problem. No problem.

Scored a low k leaf for sister, impressive drive, no hesitation
whatsoever when overtaking, traded her sti subbie that was
costing between $80 to $120 per week for fuel - she thought
she would miss her subbie but couldn't give a shite about the
over-complicated piece of shite. (Granade on wheels)

20 moving parts in a leaf motor - 2000+ moving parts
in a ICE = No Brainer!

"I think that article more then proves the title."

Fixed it for you.

Language so hard.

But yes, a small software fix solves the problem and there was nothing wrong with the battery in the first place.

Electric cars are as trouble free as claimed (if you buy the right one)

intrade, Aug 7, 3:46pm
ummmm if you dont buy any car then you have troble free and you do not hope to buy the right one .
or any car is good if you buy the right one. -- i also win the lotto if i buy the right ticket.

, Aug 7, 5:47pm
That makes no sense, you can't select a winning lotto ticket its random the numbers are drawn after you buy it.

Obviously you need a car to get around, it just happens if you buy a Leaf you're unlikely to have mechanical problems, statistically they're extremely reliable and the one thing that seemed like it might be a major issue, isn't and is fixed with a $100 software upgrade.

Do you understand?

Electric cars are fine its their electric motors that are in pain, theyre screaming out for juice bwah.

, Aug 8, 1:55am
Even a granny wagon like a Leaf has a motor that comes with ample juice:

And I quote my previous post on here, their needed to be that "ImConfident" of the product. Tesla come out with a 3 ton electric car! which is "Incorrect."

serf407, Aug 8, 7:41am
Tesla's mobile service Model S loaded with parts and tools is probably close to 3 tonnes loaded.

In case you missed it the Volkswagen I.D. R EV left all the 'juice' cars in the weeds on Pikes Peak: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T6nYdHwgCIk

It sounds just like the model radio controlled cars I raced as a kid lol.

harm_less, Aug 8, 12:49pm
And those have pretty amazing acceleration too!

esky-tastic, Aug 8, 2:36pm
Lucky it wasn’t an endurance race.

harm_less, Aug 8, 3:13pm
I.D. R was very specifically designed for that event. It'll be interesting to see improving battery technology make for ranges suited to longer distance races.

This is one of the reasons a lot of research is being done on alternative energy storage systems; graphene/nonotechnology/superc-

It has an impact, but it ain't nothing compared to the impact of oil:

Don't think there are such a good deal when the battery apart from being expensive seems to be the weakest link. The battery units are sealed so a few dead cells can let the whole thing down and they can't be repaired(replaced) easily

harm_less, Aug 9, 3:39pm
Easier to repair than an internal combustion engine.

Batteries last for years and are very reliable, mines 7 years old and still going strong. Once you take into account the massive savings on operating costs replacing it every 10 years or so is a minor.
