got a friend wanting to buy one. Told him I would ask in here for advice.
Are there any known issues with them?

What year? There was one that was a Barina

they're looking at a 2013 1200cc.

They are cheaply made Korean GM cars, 4 speed auto etc. but no one seems to be shouting about major problems.

Lots of road noise, especially in the back seat.

Really noisy - the in laws have one.

We tested one back in 2011 as we were looking for a small car as a run-around.

When we went for a drive we had gone around the corner from the dealer and realised what a rubbish car it was. Had we not been having to drop my daughter at tennis we would have returned it there and then!

Much nicer small cars out there - we ended up with a Kia Picanto (new shape) and it was brilliant.

Nissan leaf , surely the most popular E car

Tell them to drive the Panda, it's loads better, safer, more fun, better on gas, much better in the hills etc etc. You can buy a LOT of car in that price range, a lot more than the Spark.

Spark is an awful car to drive, noisy, cheap inside. BUT they do seem to be reliable. Probably ok if it was just going to be a shopping trolley

If anyone wants a Spark, the current model is the one to get, its as good as anything else in its class, has a CVT which suits it well and is substantially better on the highway than the original model. It is worth the extra.
