Firstly all of that tire is perished from age. (look between the tread block), retreading it won't solve this issue.

Secondly pritty much only truck retreds are available in NZ anymore. Cheap no name brand tire have killed that industry.

did toyboy3 put new tyer on or crashburn and die?

I am curious as to the outcome as well.

looks like it been run up on the edge of a curb or something

The tyres were on a car in Japan that I was considering buying , but the costs to get the car on the road here with a set of new tyres was too much

I’ve used lots of designated M&S tyres, never had an issue with them.
And there’s lots of them around.

Minimum 15 years upwards of 25 years old for the tyres.
Probably parked a lot in an area that gets sun all day round.
Roof top parking will do that.

Boats and caravans which are stored in the sun and weather often get wooden or canvas covers to stop them perishing.
Old age cracks.we all get them.

Toyboy--that is not tyre wear its tyre cracking. The cause is one of two things 1) perishing due to age/uv exposure. 2) being run very underinflated.

Thanks for fulfilling my curiosity.

Toyboy--I'd suggest allowing $500 regardless for "unforeseen"
also I'd suggest changing your calculations from exchange at 75 to 74 Could be wrong but my gut says we might be looking at another dip
