Yes he is a great driver. He is getting on though and hasn't had the winnings for some time. Younger drives reaction times are better and competition is right up there so good he is going while henjoying is near the top of his game. All about sponsorship and airtime. You gotta be no 1

My gut feeling is he was pushed a bit by Dane. The writings been on the wall since he was moved sideways to make room for Giz. The question is will T8 stay with 3 cars or drop back to two?

Whincup is 35, I would guess that 888 will use the third car to bring another younger driver up to A team pace, skill and gain experience under the tutelage of Lowndes.
It has been seen at a few rounds this year Lowndes has had more pace initially, as Lowndes & his engineer found a better car setup quicker than the red bull car engineers (and better race 1 tactics for the saturday race), information & strategy which later gave the red bull cars better pace on the sunday race.
