Actually Hydrogen is looking very good !

"Hydrocarbons in gasoline generally exhibit low acute toxicities, with LD50 of 700–2700 mg/kg for simple aromatic compounds.[117]"

"Contrary to common misconception, swallowing gasoline does not generally require special emergency treatment, and inducing vomiting does not help, and can make it worse. According to poison specialist Brad Dahl, "even two mouthfuls wouldn't be that dangerous as long as it goes down to your stomach and stays there or keeps going." The US CDC's Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry says not to induce vomiting, lavage, or administer activated charcoal.[120][121]"

Hmm. I think I'd rather handle gasoline.

Doesn't matter if methanol isn't added here, it is overseas. That's why it has 'methylated' in it's name.
My boss used to be a hospital orderly in his youth. A few orderlies ended up dying after a party because someone added the wrong alcohol to the punch.

Hydrogen is purely an energy storage system, and not an efficient one at that. Better to use any number of other fuels such as diesel, biodiesel, natural gas, petrol etc in a range extender/generator to increase range, until batteries have advanced far enough to provide adequate range and recharge times.

In Extreme-E racing they use solar to generate hydrogen then the stored hydrogen to generate electricity for the cars.

This is so that they can race the electric cars where there is no other infrastructure.

Hubby and his mates reckon on the odd occasion they had to siphon some gas from one car to a tin so they could rescue each other they sometimes swallowed a bit and while it didn't taste nice, it didn't kill them nor require hospitalisation.

Nice selective logging there, aka cherry picking.
How about the benzene?
When does cherry picking become outright lying do you think?

bitsnpieces2020, Jul 3, 6:55pm
Tell that to the sun. 4 billion years, and still half a tank of hydrogen.

bitsnpieces2020, Jul 3, 6:59pm
It wasn'ta very smart thing to do though was it.

Nuclear fusion? It's a great idea, but the technology isn't quite there yet lol.

bitsnpieces2020, Jul 3, 8:33pm
You could say that about all forms of energy use. I'm sure in 100 years, (if civilization doesn't collapse) they will have ways to use hydrogen that are not even imaginable today.

apollo11, Jul 3, 8:45pm
I agree, perhaps they will have Deloreans with nuclear fusion reactors that run on household trash? That doesn't make the current situation with 50% energy losses just to create hydrogen as a store of energy make any sense though.

FFS no one deliberately swallowed petrol. And I'm sure it was a very rare occurrence.

What about all the pump jockeys who dispensed leaded petrol for many years? Hubby was doing this for the last couple of years also and he was definitely not happy about the fumes. He was happy when that job fell over.
