Carjam

I have a question on carjam.
When I punch in a vehicle rego on carjam it comes up with the year and model details.
What I want to know is, does that mean rego has not lapsed ? Or could it be lapsed and not telling me. The seller can't confirm rego status.

Here's a link for you. Enter the plate number and it will tell you exactly the date of licence expiry (and WOF) and if it's been cancelled, you will get a big red error message at the top, so there can be no mistaking it.

No it doesnt what you get presented with on Carjam is mostly out of date information unless you get a paid report. Doing the above is the quickest way to determine its rego status.

Oh what a shame. The young guy who crashed into my fence in his uninsured car that he had owned for a day has had it written off.

Great. NZTA not carjam ! That's a handy page.clearly states rego and wof details.in the one I'm looking at , headed "Licence exemption expiry date:" Clearly states if rego is on hold. Thanks for the link.

The other useful thing on Carjam is the ability to check if someone really is the registered owner.
You can't stick in a rego number and find out the owner, but you can put in a name and rego and it'll either confirm, or deny, that that's the owner.

You're most welcome, yes it's very useful indeed.

Carjam is free as well for this.

Yes they could. Most common when the owner is a company or a trust. My Corolla GT's fourth owner was a trust here in Christchurch back in 1991.

Thought I'd check my, dear old Mk 1 Zephur and system says. Error
Please check the plate number. The registration for the vehicle with the plate number entered has been cancelled.
No other details.

My Vespa isn't even in the system. Mind you, it's last WOF and REG was 1977.

reb53, Aug 27, 6:46pm
Probably because it's no longer in the system.
If you don't keep it on hold, ( free), for 2 years it leaves the system and you have the hassle of getting it back in.

Yes, as mentioned, that means it has been deregistered and sadly, it's very likely in car heaven by now. Might be tucked up in the back of somebody's barn though, you never know!

A car that I owned but was stolen & stripped in 1996 is still in carjam & not 'reported stolen'.

My old Escort dead too :(

I gave away my nice car to a relative. Later I was told that they had sold it.

tells me that the rego has been cancelled. So they lied to me, and they had an accident that wrote off the car.

Must be an error. I tested this out on my two registered cars. It says they cannot confirm that I'm the registered owner, which I can categorically 100% guarantee that I am.
