Holden HQ wheels

cathair, Oct 5, 10:34am
where can I find 4 of these! they are for a car trailer. Would prefer if they hadrubber around them too.

jasongroves, Oct 5, 10:42am
Do they absolutely need to be HQ wheels!
Or are you just needing the correct stud pattern, offset etc!

cathair, Oct 5, 6:35pm
same stud pattern etc.

oramac, Oct 5, 7:05pm
Identical is HQ,HJ,HX,HZ or 71-79. Same pattern would be at least as far back as HR, so that would be HR,HK,HT,HG or 67-71. The main difference with the earlier ones is clearance to brake drums.

thanks oramac. Any idea where i could get some!

Not quite right, oramac.

48-215 (fx) - FJ: 5 on 162 mm (6.375") Backspace: 2.875 inches on the early - pre-1951 - 3.5" wheels and 3.125" on the later and much more common 4" wheels.Converting this to Offset, we have 29.85 mm positive offset for the early (3.5") rims and 25.87 positive for the later 4" rims.

FE - HR: PCD 5 on 107.95 mm (4.25"), Offset 6mm positive.

HK - HG: PCD 5 on 107.95 mm (4.25"), Offset 30 mm Positive (except HK and HT GTS which had an Offset of 13 mm Positive, HG GTS went to 30 mm Positive)

HQ - WB PCD: 5 on 120.65mm (4.75"), Offset 30 mm Towards the inside of the rim for standard offset wheels.

Torana LJ/LC, LX/LH: PCD 5 on 107.95mm (4.25"). Same stud pattern as HK-HG.

Torana LH with option L34 and LX with option A9X: PCD 5 on 120.65mm (4.75") with -1/4" Offset. Same stud pattern as HQ-WB with a different offset.

So, it seems that it was only the HK and HT GTS Monaro Coupes that had a different Offset in the HK to HG models. The Track on an HK is narrower than either HT or HG, so there must have been some difference in the suspension or suspension mounting points.

Commodores use a 5 on 120 mm (4.724") PCD. Very close to the HQ - WB PCD but not close enough. If you put Commodore wheels on an old Holden (or vice versa), you will break your studs and be overtaken by your own wheel.not a good look.

Hope this helps your choices, OP.

Good luck.

Hi Matt
I have 2 rims in my garage.
Stamped inside, it says 14 X 500JJ,6S Holden 6/76.
PCD 5 X 4.75 inches (as close as I can measure).
I am in Stokes Valley so if you are interested in looking at them you will have to somehow let me know how to contact you.

yes definatly interested. what would be the "legal" way to give out contact details through here! rather not get banned for handing out my cell #

pipstarz, Oct 6, 7:24am
OMG yes we have a trailer with the same tyres too. Such a mission to find a rim. Found one in a dump at tikitiki on the east cape.

Matt,
I have listed these rims for sale. Just click on my name and then go to my listings and click buy now. If they are not suitable you will not have to pay.

Wrong PCD. As per post 7.
I have 2 rims with good rubber but am in Ashburton. There are plenty of other 14 inch rims around. I changed my trailer wheels a few months ago to be the same as my car, effectivly giving me 2 spares when travelling out of town. Local engineering firm redrilled my hubs for $10.00 and 10 new wheel studs and wheel nuts cost another $34.00My hubs were old and actually had left and right hand threaded wheel bolts to hold the wheels on as well as the hubs being fitted the wrong way around for the bolts. It was a definate change for the better.
