Did you have spark before you replace the spark plugs!
If so, I'd advise you recheck everything you touched to make sure all plugs are reconnected

the car died so i checked the spark plugs only (3) just because of akward placement of the others (3), spark plugs were rooted ,i didnt check for spark before i installed them so not to sure.
the engine is a V6 non turbo
no

so all 6 plugs changed! check the distributor cap and rotor too - I had my '97 Legnum V6 die on me because of a faulty coil to rotor prong on the dizzy cap. With all the repeated attempts at trying to start before replacing the dizzy cap, the plugs were saturated and the engine was flooded. Replacing just the front bank of plugs didn't get it started but once all 6 plugs were replaced it started up first try.

thanx phillip ,we tried looking for the coil but no luck finding it. is the 97 and 96 similar! if so could you direct it to me!

the coil is built into the distributor. the whole distributor assembly is the same for 1996 through to the last of the NZ-new Galant V6 sedans in 2006. Even the 2L V6 Legnum (1996-7 years only) has the same distributor and cap.

Those back plugs are a bugger put long life plugs in there

rico1993, Nov 12, 7:33pm
how would i test to check if the coil is working

Nah, rather do Mitsi plugs than V6 Camry. Fit platinum tip plugs all round.
