1992 Nissan Leopard wont start

hydroman08, Nov 15, 3:38am
Battery is fine.
ABS lights up on the dash, as well as the gear selector (on the dash).
But then nothing when i turn the key further.
Alarm still works fine (no immobliser either).

Any ideas!

What! no sound from the starter! Do the dash lights dim!Is gear selector in Park!

Thank god for that, a life may have been saved.

Inhibitor switch. Faulty starter solenoid. Worn starter brushes. Broken starter cable.

All very easy things to check. Do it and report back.

Well i got it cranking/clicking.Quite fast, but still wont start.
All lights on dash are there (some dimmer than normal).
Yes its in park :)
Stero is not working either

Sounds like the battery - how did you establish it was "fine"! Also, could be the terminal clamps need a clean.

hydroman08, Nov 15, 4:07am
Used my multimeter on the battery :)
Alarm shouldnt work if battery is dead,or lights.
However central locking isnt working.

henderson_guy, Nov 15, 4:13am
Have you put your multimeter on it whilst cranking! It takes a lot more battery power to start a car than it does for dash lights, alarms and central locking.

Low battery voltage. It's dropping off when loaded which points to an unservicable battery with just a surface charge.

Well you guys know more than me - time to buy a new battery i guess.Old owner never wrote date of purchase on so dont know how old it is!
