its not the poor buggers in the back seat trying to get out cos theyve developed deep vein thrombosis is it!

I'd start by putting it up on axle stands and motoring up the rig to at least that 75km/hr ( and you'd probably feel it before then) if that doesn't offer the vibration then 1: it isn't mechanical drivetrain eg semi seized crosspieces, bent shafts, and 2: if probablyIS out of round tyre - still perfectly in balance but no longer round
If it is apparent while up there, haul the hand throttle on and take a walk around it - you'll 'feel' it more from outside than inside and I'll bet your eyes will go straight to the source

if thats all a bit much, pay the local dynoshop to clip it down and run it up while you get down and eyeball from all angles

my experience would say bulged tread on a rear wheel ie out of round, or a massive flat spot - again out of round
a possible could also be binding handbrake at a single point of each rotation - usually means a rear drum or disk has fractured

jack them and prove that although the clip says "free" they are actually disengaging properly - wouldn't be the first that are frozen internally in the locked position

I haven't read through the entire thread, but if a front hub was not dis-engaging you could have this problem.

Additionally, the front driveshafts on the live axle Hiluxes would wear internally (splines) and give a heck of a vibration. I assume a 1997 is IFS, but is the rear shaft splined with a telescoping joint! if so a quicj check could be to pump it full of grease to see if the problem is lessened

Sorry if this has already been covered

Don't know what it is called but there is a "Cross member" under drive shaft thing, engine end that can get filled with mud that sets like concrete. Hit it with a hammer. I have muddy mine experience with later models and this caused bad vibrations
