putting in a surf, and I'm wondering what to do with the pump that drives the hydraulic fan. Anyone out there thats done one of these,any help will be appreciated.
Mine had a viscous fan, I removed it completly an then fit an electric fan. Easiest option for me anyway.

I took the pump off mine and got a shorter belt.I run electric fans on my radiator but thats mounted on the back tray

If your planning on using it for offroading electric fans are the way. you can switch them off before going into water or mud to stop them throwing water all over the electrics. If your running a link computer or the likes you can also hook them up to that so you can control what temps to turn the fans on and off.
