thinking of getting new engine for ford capri has the 2l pinto thinking lexus v8 or maybe a straight 6, ! or what would you go 4!

ginga4lyfe, Aug 6, 8:42pm
Hard to say, But I would push for a Falcon L6 turbo engine to keep it "ford"

thegravelracer, Aug 6, 9:08pm
3.8 ss commy motor lol

ringo2, Aug 6, 9:10pm
A Mazda 28B Quad rotor. After Mazda won Le Mans with it they banned it as being too light and too powerful and having an unfair advantage over the european cars.

les6, Aug 6, 9:58pm
definately a chev motor, make a real car out of it!

howz_that, Aug 6, 10:01pm
302 ford coyote v8 with twin turbos.

pge, Aug 6, 10:15pm
Stay "in-period" and find a Ford 3Litre V6, from a MkIV Zephyr.

Work it just a little, and enjoy yourself!

Gppd luck.

jason18, Aug 6, 10:30pm
I 2nd Falcon turbo 6. Im thinking that would go good in the valiant too

ryans, Aug 6, 10:31pm
I wouldn't go for a V8 or straight 6, it'll ruin the balance of the car.

jason18, Aug 6, 10:43pm
Balance who needs that

pieman33h, Aug 6, 10:45pm
4 litre v6 out of later model courier etc, twin turbo. end of story

ninja_man, Aug 6, 10:54pm
xr6 turbo engine, or a 2jz turbo

mgmad, Aug 6, 11:15pm
TVR Speed 6. 350-400hp from 3.6-4.0l, N/A, all alloy, dry sumped, individual DTH throttle bodies and 180kg fully dressed, from the factory. And they sound great.

happylad3, Aug 6, 11:32pm
I'm currently building a 289 for my mark 1. Aiming for around 350+ hp. When I got it, I was looking at other conversions, and iirc, the xr6t is too long and tall. And needs firewall work.

patiki1, Aug 6, 11:46pm
LS1 with the Tremec 6 speed gearbox.

pieman33h, Aug 7, 12:04am
nooooo. not a ls1! they are the new belly button engine. as in, everyone has one!

wrong2, Aug 7, 12:23am
someone doesnt know their le mans history

cowboy110, Aug 7, 1:23am
I agree.Should make for a fairly straight forward transplant.I could be wrong (not being a Ford person) but didn't some Capris come out with a V6!

zephyrheaven, Aug 7, 1:28am
perana it - V8 but dont even think about a Uzi , build a mad 289 for it

plasticboys, Aug 7, 1:30am
straight 8 mate

bignzer1, Aug 7, 3:04am
I agree with zephyrheaven and happylad3 a 289 would have to be the way to go

clark20, Aug 7, 3:52am
Thats because they are light (for a V8 at 212kg), and make heaps of power.

clark20, Aug 7, 3:55am
The best V6 is probably a Nissan 350Z motor and 6 speed, that would be cool. Proctor used a V6 turbo one in his Escort.

Edit he used a 300ZX turbo, thats good too.

don_logan, Aug 7, 6:45am
Go eat your peas cletus, mommas comin

big.b-lil.c, Sep 19, 9:44am
think about what you want to do with it, daily driver, Saturday night special, circuit car or drag car. the v6 had a different front cross member and had reinforced strut towers. im putting a sierra cosworth and t5 into mine, but to do that you need deep pockets a v8 would have been cheaper. i know of someone else doing the same thing his will however be a dedicated race car. i know of another putting a v6 from a ford american pickup (4.3ltr!) he is also fitting a supercharger also a race car. the choice is nearly unlimited if your budget unlimited too. save some money for brakes and suspension.
