Yes, very good, but doesn't mean they won't give you problems. All depends on its service history. My uncle's got a 2003 model, had it for the last six years and the only problem he had was a brake proportioning valve. Cheap and easy fix, random failure most likely. Apart from that, the car's superb, feels very solid, cheap to service, zippy engine, but small boot.

Does your uncle have the corolla or voltz!

mugenb20b, Dec 17, 6:20am
Corolla.

Not quite sure why they seem to be a lot more pricey than cars of a similar age - guess its the toyota label and the slightly bigger size (Rav appeal etc)

our work cars are toyota corollas and i find them good to drive.took one to Otaki and back once and it was great

I love Toyotas, they are my favourite cars, but my god, they all cost a fortune for what they are. I never lost money when selling my old Toyotas, but I don't think I'll buy another one.

I test drove a 4wd Voltz and a 2004 Rav4. No contest. My friend bought the Rav4 which was superoir in almost all aspects except possibly ecomomy and will certainly be easier to resell.

Agree. I've owned around 20 toyotas, great cars, good resale, for example the 1996 Prado I have just sold dropped $7000 in 6 years and 80000 kms. Try that with a European !

mugenb20b, Dec 17, 6:34am
A '96 model Prados these days cost around $15 to $20k, far too much, but a '96 Range Rover is around $7k and it cost more than a Prado when new. The Ra-Ro has more luxury features etc, and yet they depreciate so much.interesting.

Find me a Rangie that you can own for 6 years, 80,000 and not spend a cent on other than pads and tyres. I think this may be why.

Be aware the Voltz is assembled in North America and generally not as well screwed together as other Toyota models.

Just look at the panel gaps

will do thanks

I totally agree, just interesting to see that some people buy Range Rovers thinking they bought something prestige, yet Toyota make much better lasting SUVs.

I have, many times over and I usually lose less than that on a vehicle of that age.
I have had my Multipla 6 years, done 100'000km and I expect to lose around $4500 - $5000 when I sell it soon. It will be one of the second biggest hit I have taken on a car and I have owned dozens of Euro's.

Many I break even or make money on.

I read much the same as one of the above posters mentioned, California build car rather than Japan built car, and not considered to be as well put together as the Corolla's.

Mechanically a Toyota Corolla of course.

Sold in USA is a Pontiac Vibe or something aren't they!

It takes a special sort of inbred to buy a heap of ugly sh!t like a Multipla.

scrapped the idea of a voltz - too rare, parts will be a hassle.

27pukeko, Dec 18, 2:45am
OMG just googled Multipla! That is beyond hideous!

rovercitroen, Dec 18, 3:49am
Rubbish. The are beautiful.

bwg11, Dec 18, 4:10am
Good decision.

27pukeko, Dec 18, 4:25am
are you serious!

franc123, Dec 18, 5:55am
Yeah whats with that, perhaps someone can explain why they are so good considering they are basically just a Yank assembled Corolla! From what examples that are listed on here by dealers they are priced at almost Prado and Altezza levels of cheekiness, I mean $13-15K for a 2002 model with 100K or thereabouts on it!Not good buying IMO.Nope I'd keep looking elsewhere, perhaps get a tidy 2000 Cavalier and buy another 4 for spares and still have $5K left over!!
