Mazda B5 (DOHC) stalling

My sister's car is stalling, its a 90 model 323 with the 1.5 dohc engine. Idle fluctuates between 250rpm and 700 rpm but if you give it a poke it will rev up then when the revs come back down it stalls.

Does anyone know what could be causing this!

Check air flow meter and check the air intake pipe between the air flow meter and manifold for leaks.

I had a similar problem with the b6 engine. It's quite possibly the idle air control valve. I just pulled mine out and cleaned and dried it. Seems to be all good now! Could also be the MAF sensor

If it's a throttle port injected, they have two injectors in what looks like the carby. These inj. can play up and only one will squirt. Common enough, as is dirty throttle plate.

idle air valve blocked up or the throttle butterfly needs cleaning.
