Mechanic issue/what to do

He's not an idiot, he's totally correct. Its not the place of this messageboard to say who is right or wrong regarding the condition of the old parts. It strikes me that the mechanic is using guilt tactics to fleece customers. Sure, it may need to be done and a good mechanic will say "You need to get this looked at by X date". A shit mechanic is going to do it and charge you for it.

How would you feel if you went into say, MacDonalds as an example, ordered a Big Mac meal and the person at the counter added two hamburgers and a icecream and proceeded to charge you for them because you "looked like you needed to eat more"!

You probably are flogging a dead horse mate . there are many on these boards in all categories that screw up as early as their very first post and from that point onwards WILL NOT concede that they have made a mistake and admit that they ARE WRONG !

Give up, the horse is dead some people can't be told that rip off mechanics exist.
