I have a solid front double cab that I want to set up for recreational off roading. I am in CHCH and want to know who in CHCH or where online and what brands are best for supply of upgrades. At this stage I am looking at a suspension lift and open to advice on other cost effective improvements.
Thanks

For playing in the dirt/ mud etc with reasonable success but not getting serious

Minimum of air locker in the back & a limited slip for the front
Manual locking hubs an advantage for reliablilty
Medium winch in comparison to the 4x4's dry weight

The rest is sky high depending on wallet /balls & intentions

try the guys at Lineside in Rangi http://www.lineside.co.nz/ they dont charge like wounded bulls and should be able to point you in the right direction

Just remember.
HP, height, tyres /gearbox /4x4 mean NOTHING if you can't get traction & when you get stuck (and you will) whats going to get you out!

That's why you never go out alone.

Fixed.

You can also make your own extended shackles for the leaf springs to gain more height.

The first mods i would do is suspesion lift and decent mud tyres. Then i would look at lsd's or mechanical lockers and a winch. I wouldnt worry about air lockers unless you get serious as they are quiet expensive. Dont forget a snorkel if u plan on going through some deep bogs

I would start with decent mud tyres, some recovery points and gear and a snorkel (Canterbury rivers.).

From memory there are at least 2 4wd specialists in Chch, 4wd upgrades being one.

Have you had a look on offroadexpress.co.nz! There are also a number of local clubs.
