Hi, i have a 96 lancer 1.5 DOHC. the engine knocks when its cold then it goes away. but it does it when im driving aswell. and very loud when under load at low rpm. how could i fix it thanks! ive been told it could be the crap oil filters by ryco or the oil.

probably noisy lifters, practically standard on Mitsis that old.New oil and filter and some Proma MBL8 will sort it with any luck, unless you're motivated enough to track down and replace the noisy ones.

Yeah thats really common on an old Mitsubishi. Parts probably won't be a hell of a lot, but the labour will be up there.

should run it on 95. i have a 96 mitsi and goes very well running on 95 :) had no problems with it

Just fixed our noisy tapping noise in our 94 Mitsi by replacing the worn lifters (we had the head off anyway).We run ours on 95 petrol (but its turbo)
