right! i have a beach buggy with a 202 3 speed manual gear box, the pinion shaft in the diff head is stuffed! now im not sure what this diff is out of, so far i have come to the conclusion that it is a banjo Holden diff with 30 fine spline axles, my question is what type of Holden would this diff likely to be out of! cheers

jmma, Jun 20, 8:42am
Prob the same as motor and box, maybe HQ,

maz61, Jun 20, 8:53am
the motor is a red 202 motor, im not sure what thats out of eirther maybe torano!

jmma, Jun 20, 9:00am
Torana had 4 speed, what spring set up is on the diff! Photo maybe!

Looks pre HQ to me, what stud pattern is it!

maz61, Jun 20, 9:24am
5 stud, cheers

jmma, Jun 20, 9:33am
Yes pre HQ, could be any from eh to hg, is there a ratio stamped on the crownwheel!

maz61, Jun 20, 9:43am
914! does that sound like anything! thanks

jmma, Jun 20, 9:50am
No, 3.25:1or something like that, are you sure on your axle spline count!
Do you go to Porirua much!

monzaman, Jun 20, 9:50am
Looks like my hiace diff,it's not bango type borg warner diff as used holdens, falcons and valiants.

jmma, Jun 20, 9:58am
Could be on to something there, Older hilux have 30 splines

maz61, Jun 20, 10:00am
cant find anymore numbers on the crownwheel, all there is is 94914, and just did a recount on the splines and yes there is 30, no dont go to porirua much but can do its only down the road lol, cheers

maz61, Jun 20, 10:05am
that's really throw-in a spanner in the works lol

monzaman, Jun 20, 10:11am
I'm sure it's a hiace diff now because in 1st pic to left of diff head hole is the mounting bracket for the brake bias load lever/rod-correct!they are avery strong diff-8 inch and v popular for drifting ect.

lordv81, Jun 20, 10:13am
Does not look like holden.Count the teeth on the crown wheel and pinion, then devide crownwheel number by the pinion number. At least you will know a ratio to go with the spline number.

skully13, Jun 20, 10:15am
Doesn't look like a Holden diff, due to the mounting flange for the drive shaft and the 30 spline axles.

maz61, Jun 20, 10:18am
you could be right mate as i really have no idea what type it is just going on what the guy though it might of been when i bought it and he says he thinks holden but yeah he was a bit vague on it lol that bracket that you are talking about had nothing on it so i dont know what that bracket is for but sounds like you may of nailed it! hang on i will take a closer pic

maz61, Jun 20, 10:18am
yeah i wondered about the mounting flange too

snoopy221, Jun 20, 10:19am
it's got STUDS.not bolts. show us some pics of the brakes-wheel cyl,shoes adjuster-springs etc.K
Personaly it looks NON early borg warner as it also has locking plates on the crown wheel bolts

snoopy221, Jun 20, 10:20am
could even be early 2wd nissan ute.

neville48, Jun 20, 10:24am
Holden diff would definatly have the ratio marked on the crown wheel, most popular being 3.55:1 but it would be stamped in.

maz61, Jun 20, 10:27am
sweet hang fire mate i will go and take a pic, cheers

monzaman, Jun 20, 10:36am
Yes that's it exactly as in my 98 jumbo hiace even, ratio number is usually stamped on crown wheel but very small and not always, also colour coded on nut end of pinion-prob worn off by now.

snoopy221, Jun 20, 10:45am
Yep hi ace.

monzaman, Jun 20, 10:47am
brakes same to
