A couple months ago I managed to plug my battery in back to front and killed my alternator in my project car. I was wondering if anyone knows how hard it is to rebuild an alternator! It'll just be the diodes that are dead, I'm assuming, that's all I would be fixing, I'm not going to mess with the windings, etc.
It's an alternator from a 79 XC Fairmont, 302 V8, so might be worth saving.

give us a model type and number, you never know I may even have a diode ring sitting under the bench you could have for nix, even a pic of the back of it in good light ( maybe remove the screen too )
