01 Pulsar vs 01 Barina

I've been looking around at a few cars, and have found pretty good deals (privately) on two cars.I've had them both checked out, and mechanically they're sound. What would you recommend, and more importantly, why!

The 01 Pulsar is the LS hatchback (1.8), the Barina is the XC (1.4)

Pulsar would be my personal preference, mainly because I am familiar with them mechanically and they are a good reliable wee motor when looked after.

I'm not saying the Barina isn't reliable, as I don't know, but to me the Pulsar is the better car.

Some people have had a good run out of Barina's, but many others have had a horrible time with engine electrics being unreliable, Opel based product has never been wonderful in this area and there has been bugger all done it seems to improve it.There is also the snag of the stupldly short change intervals for the timing belts (60K) that you shouldn't have to put up with on a modern car, thats far less that other makes, even if they are still using belts at all.The Pulsar is definitely the safer bet of the two.
