Every now and then my 1996 Ipsum won't change gears, the engine check light comes on, the overdrive light flashes and both the rev counter and odometer stop working. The gears change when I flick the o/d off and the problem goes away when I pull over, turn the motor off and then on again. Any suggestions on what the problem or cure is please!

i went to the garage who told me they couldn't diagnose the problem unless it was occurring at the time which it wasn't. Last night the lights and radio etc were still functioning so would it be an electrical problem!
