What engine!

3962, May 13, 5:40am
It started over-heating before you did this & that's why you did the waterpump, radiator, etc! Or you just decided to do these things & now it over-heats!

wilson16, May 13, 5:45am
2 y-j
its got a new radiator cap .

wilson16, May 13, 5:49am
yes , it started over heating before, so im trying to eliminate all the possibilities that i can deal with but now im stumped.

wilson16, May 13, 5:49am
engine is 2y-j

mugenb20b, May 13, 5:51am
Fill up the radiator right to the top. Leave the cap off. Start the engine. Is the water gushing out!

mrfxit, May 13, 5:52am
Head gasket is my pick.

It's the 1800cc, been there done that, ignored it as it was only slight (only showed on long trips, never around town) & traded it in.

Townace or Liteace, pick it's the Townace ;-(

wilson16, May 13, 5:55am
yep, townace

wilson16, May 13, 5:55am
no water gushing out untill driven. it runs fine (idles too high though, new development) for a good test drive maybe 5 kms then overheats bigtime.

mugenb20b, May 13, 5:58am
OK, I think you might have a blown head gasket (as already stated) and/or stuffed head. Take the car to a garage and ask them to perform a TK head check.

richard198, May 13, 6:13am
OP already stated Townace.

Where is the water/coolant leaking from!.

mrfxit, May 13, 6:16am
If the head is buggered, then it could be worth while dropping the 4y (2.2ltr) motor in, should be a direct bolt in.
Most (wof) ppl can't tell the difference because the motor 'looks' the same.

mrfxit, May 13, 6:17am
D'oh. yea ok whatever . LOL ;-)

johnf_456, May 13, 6:18am
You should really have a cert I would not recommend this even if its not picked up.

wilson16, May 13, 6:18am
over flows (boils ) into resevoir .and sprays like a guyser over me when i take the radiator cap off.

richard198, May 13, 6:20am
Sure you got the right pressure cap!

johnf_456, May 13, 6:20am
Sounds like the head to me.

mrfxit, May 13, 7:27am
Wouldn't have suggested if it was an easy thing to spot or anything other then a direct bolt in of all parts.
Not exactly a big increase on power either (more torque mostly I think) but far better suited to that body size.

johnf_456, May 13, 7:30am
Try explain that to the insurance company or anyone who finds it out. Certs exist for a reason.

r15, May 13, 7:36am
i thought there was some kind of allowance for engines of the same series provided it didnt increase power by more than 20%

johnf_456, May 13, 7:36am
Yes there is

mr40cal, May 13, 7:43am
seems like you are helping again john - helping everybody realise you are a * * * *ing moron
