Well, it was a joint development effort with the WTC in the UK and the South Korean technical office.

Hell yeah, there is problems coming out of China. Show me one country or car manufacture that is perfect. Maybe Rolls Royce and their Jet Engines or Toyota who held in very high regard as it should be. Oh but just look at Toyota??

China will make what you want them to. NZ & Aussie buyers representing Mitre 10, Pacemakers, Bunning's and the small hardware stores try and out do each other by buying the cheapest softest screws, nuts n bolts, and other fittings that will barely do the job. Those buyers also have the opportunity to purchase the good stuff at much higher prices. They don??

crzyhrse, Apr 26, 9:52pm
The difference is that those manufacturers are not inherently poor across most aspects of most of their product lines.

You need to understand the chinese mindset. Any piece of crap will do. You give money now, roundeye!

I've worked with many, many chinese built machines and plant from mills to fittings. Even with strict contractual controls in place they simply cannot be trusted to produce quality items off their own back - you have to maintain checks and measures every step of the way or they will take shortcuts.

The reality is they only want to maximise profit in the short term, not build an enduring quality brand reputation.

Sort of the chicken and the egg here. We want stuff cheap because it hasn't worked so well in the past when it was expensive because it was the same stuff with just a much greater local margin.

We shouldn't have a free trade deal with China. Our philosophies are not compatible.

I just wouldnt trust their engineering .I have had the good fortune to replace many clapped out chinese pumps which havelasted just over 2 years, plastic impellers on mild steel shafts & nut, shear off if try to undo & their bearings are open greasethat seize up & root the motor , no overloads /cutouts .I havent come across anything they make that is well made.

crzyhrse, Apr 26, 10:31pm
They'll try anything on. We had a tank made, for caustic, that needed to be made from 316. They made it from 304 to save a couple of $ thinking we wouldn't test it. We did and they didn't get paid and we had someone else make it.

Did you see the pictures of the 13-story apartment block that fell over nearing construction completion!

WTF! They do this stuff under threat of penalty of death, so they're not going to give a toss about a fine for supplying a car that doesn't match the one that was put forward for safety approvals!

mapman, Apr 27, 12:13am
crzyhrse I hear you and understand the Chinese mine set oh too well. They are totally money driven. We have passion with our projects and if successful there is a financial gain too. This is something they don??

mapman, Apr 27, 12:17am
crzyhrse a Chinese building falling over because of improper planning. Don??

vtecintegra, Apr 27, 12:20am
Not quite the same thing but GW did wholesale copy the Fiat Panda design, resulting in that model being banned from Europe and damages awarded.

carmedic, Apr 27, 12:39am
Were they ever paid!

mapman, Apr 27, 12:41am
Poor old Fiat get picked on quite a bit. What do you think the Lada was based on the Fiat 124. It happens more than you think. We talked about the Barina before, that??

No financial interest yet in cars, but I??
