this. i dont like the fuse option but it is an option.

i have done more than i can ever remember.

mecanix, Apr 18, 2:12am
yep. if it shudders or binds get that solonoid done, or as he says put a fuse in it. i prefer to keep them 4wd though.

I googled this when my folks in law had the same problem.
step 1. check tyre pressures and sizes
step 2. fuse the FWD slot and check if it still shudders
either the duty c solenoid or grooves in the clutch drum

I'm not a mechanic, just handy with google

I was assuming your car is manual seeing autos don't have centre diffs.

bugger. no problem on my car however i figure driving with 2 wheels must use less gas than 4. i suppose it's not really a problem though :-\

Theres another option, rotate all the tyres back to front and fronts to back.Check the tranmission fluid level, if if looks dirty faded red, then you may need to change transmission fluid as well.If its good, go to BNT, Brake and Transmission, get 3 small bottles of Dr Trannys instant shudder fix (google it), about $35 for all I think.Put 2 in the transmission one in the diff.Take the car straight down to an empty supermarket car park orother car park, and to figure 8's both ways for about 10 mins, no more than 10 -15 kph and the problem should reduce.Driving over the next week or so should cure 80-90% of the problem.Have done this on 8 or so Subarus, and has worked every time.
