The truck vs hotrod on the hill incident

theres the clincher, I don't believe that just because it is legal, you should go ahead and do it
there are other considerations that should be in play as well as legality

skin1235, Apr 13, 5:24am
plus of course your attitude that I must revoke my life and personality to appease your take on this is bound to cause some conflict
cos my personality don't back down to anyone

mapman, Apr 13, 5:35am
The way I see it, if its legal then you have a right. If its illegal then you have less of a right. A truck can legally pass another truck if the speed is within the legal limit and if he can safely do so by staying to the left of the yellow centre line. A vehicle of any sort can not use their vehicle to force another vehicle to stop or brake hard unless it is a Police Car or Motorbike. Even then, you would never see any Police officer doing that because the truck driver dared to slow him down for 10 seconds. Now that is a fact whether you want to introduce scenarios or not.

mapman, Apr 13, 5:35am
And that??

fordcrzy, Apr 13, 5:47am
i have done similar to a truck once who rolled through a stop sign and i had to brake hard.once the oncoming traffic had gone i passed him and MADE him stop. he was P!$$ed! that'll teach him.

what i did was morally wrong yes, but running a stop was illegal.

skin1235, Apr 13, 5:49am
lol, failing to bend over for you is revealing me as fool!

I wish I had your ego

jmma, Apr 13, 5:52am
Half Time (o:

mapman, Apr 13, 5:54am
I can understand your frustration here for sure, but the thing is with this video there is only one driver behaving badly, the rest is speculation. For me it is totally pointless defending the rod just because of maybes.

skin1235, Apr 13, 5:54am
thats how a true fool reveals himself

legality doesn't make it right to do it, and illegality makes it dead wrong to do it

but then it is your attitude you're trying to explain here eh

fordcrzy, Apr 13, 5:58am
I havent actually seen the rod incident. is there a link!
it sounds like the rod driver was being a dick but i guess it was his way of telling the truckie to be more considerate.
INCONSIDERATE drivers are the worst! look at all the bad driving that falls in the inconsderate envelope. its a shame that inconsiderate driving doesnt get a ticket

mapman, Apr 13, 5:59am
When you??

skin1235, Apr 13, 6:02am
it is impossible to cover all the angles that the inconsiderate driver will use to defend his actions, there the charge of inconsiderate driving is rarely used
while there are idiots around who think legal means it;s okay and illegal means it is still okay but do it carefully, or as above legal says you have the right to go ahead, illegal says you have slightly less right to go ahead, the matter of considerate or inconsiderate driving is going to be a long way down the totem pole

and these people think they should argue that their attitude is a good one

fordcrzy, Apr 13, 6:03am
legality and morality are 2 very different things.
just because its illegal doesnt make it immoral. and vice versa.
theres that old saying "the laws an ass" i can think of MANY traffic laws that fall into that category and for some strange reason its those ones the cops love policing.

skin1235, Apr 13, 6:13am
yeah, but illegality IS concise, there is no room for slightly less right to commit an illegal act

considerate or inconsiderate is more a moral issue, and like I suggested damn hard to legislate

No biggy, I'm just filling in time as usual. I take offence when I'm told I'm a fatality waiting to happen and soon would be good though, especially when it is on a subject I have absolutely no control over
Opinion don't HAVE to align but some things are uncalled for

mapman, Apr 13, 6:23am

mapman, Apr 13, 6:32am
If you think its OK to pass a truck, pull in front of it and slam your brakes on, then don??

skin1235, Apr 13, 6:46am
where did I say it was okay
in fact I have repeatedly said it is not okay, I have repeatedly said it was wrong
and also said I wondered why the '32 driver was so angry at the truck, I have not said it was an illegal move because I doubt even you could find any legislation to say it is illegal, regardless if you THINK it maybe illegal, or feel offended by it therefore it must be illegal to offend you, the law does not have written down that such is illegal - and thats what makes it illegal, not your opinion on perhaps it should be illegal or not
edit: there was definitely an act of inconsideration - but I've also suggested that too, inconsideration is not illegal
None of which should have invited your response, but it does point out that the actual law and how YOU interpret the law are not always the same
personally I'd get more upset with people thinking that illegal acts merely mean you have less right to commit them than legal acts when the attitude should beyou have NO right to commit illegal acts - thats why they're illegal

skin1235, Apr 13, 6:53am
and another long night wait has passed
I'm off to the cot

rob_rooster, Apr 13, 7:19am
Not a bad pass by the second truck all things considered, I know people think that trucks have no place in the right lane of overtaking lanes, but there was no justification for the way that hot rod driver behaved.
This is what happens when ego's collide on the road and it makes for ugly viewing!

mapman, Apr 13, 3:51pm
blah blah blah. With the video evidence in this case, no amount of chin waging with ever change the fact that the truck driver has managed two things well, firstly a fast flowing overtaking manoeuvre past a very heavy & slow moving truck & trailer unit. Secondly, he successfully pulled up his truck to avoid a driver with a bad attitude problem after he illegally used his little red rod as a weapon. With the video running and if the truck hit the rod, there would be no way that anything could be pinned on the truck driver, however the ADHD rod driver would be in a power of shite.
Now skin here is the thing, no matter how much you try and no matter how much you type, you will never change the above facts I just pointed out above, so why go on. Your wrong, just give it a rest man.

nightboss, Apr 13, 4:12pm
The Rod driver got past two trucks and had no vehicles in front of him, if he had been following two trucks for a while then he would have had clear road all the way to the Orewa toll road. He chose to give up the clear road by risking his life on the front of the truck. Clearly an unstable person.
No matter how much the truckie/truckies had annoyed him once past he should have kept foot down and enjoyed the clear road ahead.

skin1235, Apr 13, 4:24pm
with the vid evidence as such, and your very loose interpretation of what is legal or illegal, plus your attitude towards committing illegal acts just slightly below legal acts, ie no deterrent what so ever
your redneck intolerance to anyone who may have a differing opinion and your willingness to wish harm on others for such would make me very thankful you are not a judge nor jury
in your dream the truck did no wrong
in the vid he displayed an appalling lack of control, was almost incoherent with rage, and long after the incident was still waffling on about what he wudda shudda done
he pulled out to pass a LIGHTLY loaded truck ( count maybe 9 power poles - not a heavily laden truck at all, took almost all of the passing lane to complete what you call a fast flowing manoeuvre
the successfully pulled up bit just shows what little you do know - he would have been doing barely 50 km, a momentary lift off the loud pedal would mean he dropped at least 2 gears and was down to 30 km in about 10 mtrs, no brakes involved
like you he suffered impotent rage, impotent because he really could do nothing about it, he got served, weather it was for something he did ( and you claim he didn't) or it was a random act by the '32, the vid shows quite clearly that the truck driver failed as a professional driver in the moments when it really mattered - unless you are saying he behaved in a responsible and clearheaded way to the random! act - and if thats what you're saying then both he and you need to learn some tolerance and what it means to display consideration to others - like most professional drivers have to do 20 times a day

but hey, you carry on, the picture you paint of yourself and your deluded love for big rigs - or is it just the drivers of big rigs with foul mouths you love so much - is quite enlightening
