I Was thinking about purchasing a manual for a family run around, Are there any known problems I should look for! Thanks

there are commonly problems with the vvtl-i mechanism,the major issue is the bolts / pins that wear down over time. (google this)this causes engine light to come on and throws the car into limp mode if you get to 6000ish rpm

the other issue with this system is if the car hasnt been taken into vvtli by going right up in the revs from time to time the galleries and filters can clog up.

bottom line is make sure it's been serviced reasonaby frequently in its life and it will be great.

another comment from a friend who has an auto fielder Z with this engine is that with the 4 speed auto your never in a useful rev range. - so stick to the manual or look at a 1zzfe for broader power spread.

i looked at fielders a couple of years ago and bought an altezza gita with 2jz-ge instead.glad i did

we own a runx and never had a problem with it. great all round car
