Looking at buying a hyundai van. always had petrol in the past. so how many km between services and what is the approx cost!

NZTools, May 4, 3:59am
What year Hi-and-dry! it makes a difference.

triangle1, May 4, 4:03am
This is a 2011 model.

NZTools, May 4, 4:07am
15,000 kms or 12 months. Whichever comes first

triangle1, May 4, 5:07am
OK and what does it cost !

jasongroves, May 4, 5:17am
For a full service! Or just an oil and filter change! Or.!

cuda.340, May 4, 5:18am
15k! wow thats almost double whats in the toyota handbook & 5k more than the Mazda/Ford.

mugenb20b, May 4, 5:20am
Some diesels have much higher service intervals than 15k.

mugenb20b, May 4, 5:21am
Not much if it's done once a year.

triangle1, May 4, 5:22am
I know next to nothing about diesels. what are the costs for both!

jasongroves, May 4, 5:24am
What model and engine!

triangle1, May 4, 5:25am
It is a hyundai van.not sure of engine size but takes a 1100kg payload.

mugenb20b, May 4, 5:26am
For a basic service, allow $250. Have you actually got the van!

triangle1, May 4, 5:28am
Not yet but am looking at 1 and hope to get it in next few days. It has approx 1300k on clock and they want $40 000. It is an automatic

mugenb20b, May 4, 5:31am
OK, in that case, you might want to consult your Hyundai dealer. Some dealers offer free servicing for X number of years + they might be able to help you out with all the service costs and requirements.

triangle1, May 4, 5:32am
OK thanks for that. sounds good advice and can be part of the haggling

jasongroves, May 4, 5:34am
Is it on TM!
Do you have the rego number!
It should still be under warranty, which I will assume is transferable!
If that's the case, there may be specifics in the warranty that require the use of certain workshops and/or recommended parts brands.which could make things more expensive.
Basic oil change including 5-6L of oil and a filter would start at $100-$120 at somewhere like Oil Changers.
There really are a lot of variables.

triangle1, May 4, 5:35am
Thanks Jason. soit does not seem more expensive than a petrolvan.in fact is cheaper!

mugenb20b, May 4, 5:40am
A petrol engine is usually cheaper to service, but it also depends on what engines you're comparing. Keep in mind that licencing costs nearly $600 a year for a diesel van + RUCs.

triangle1, May 4, 5:40am
Hyundai seem popular I have seen a lot of different models lately. Are they reliable!

mugenb20b, May 4, 5:42am
Honestly, I have no idea. But, Hyundai has come a long way, not cheap and nasty like they used to be.

triangle1, May 4, 5:45am
will get interior fitted out by Van Xtras in auckland.

mugenb20b, May 4, 5:47am
Are you self employed!

triangle1, May 4, 5:47am
yes. why do u ask!

mugenb20b, May 4, 5:53am
I ask as servicing costs suddenly become lower as you can claim GST, but you already knew that.
