I wonder what the "brand new car" is!

Please let us know how you get on.

Just tell them if they dont drop the orc you wont buy it easy.Just a rip off.

clanky, Jul 17, 3:55pm
Just a thought.how can they sell the vehicle 'fit for purpose' if you can't legally drive it on the road! PDI is a requirement to check that it's safe to go on the road, rego and WoF legal requirement to move onto road, tank of gas is a nice gesture to make the customer come back. Usually all included in UK new car (and a lot of second-hand) deals.

Just try a different stealership for the same brand of car. Cars at present are not easy to sell despite all the advertising hype so somebody should be able to do you all a good deal, there is a huge margin on new cars remenber that.

This from your vast experience running a new franchise dealership!
For the record new car sales are really doing well this 1/4 -as in far better than predicted

keeping in mind two big factors. 1) new cars from japan were very hard to get up till now. 2)Lease companies extended lease periods from 3 to 5 years as a result of the "crash" and the effect of the tsunami.so really a lot of it is just catchup.

If they can nock 10k off the asking price then thats a huge mark up

gadgit3, Jul 17, 5:36pm
Depends on the vehicle and the insentive. but you would be surprised what little margin there is once all costs are taken care of. Small dealers get hit harder as they have to compeat with the bigger co's that can move volume and will sell at cost (or below) to reach targets. So a 120k SUV sometimes only has $1500 in it. it's all just figgers to these guys

splinter67, Jul 17, 5:47pm
What sort of suv goes for 120k and who would buy 1

gadgit3, Jul 17, 5:55pm
200 series VXLim Toyota Landcruiser.
And theres plenty on the roads of NZ.

And they have (or used to anyway) the most depreciation loss of any vehicle too.
