WHICH HOLDEN WOULD YOU PREFER AND WHY?

I am choosing between a 2008 Holden Commodore SV6 or a 2006 HOLDEN Commodore SS. Both similar in mileage around 160k, both one owner.

V8 will hold it's price better. In saying that I own the V6 and its a great machine. But if fuel wasn't a problem (expensive) I would get the V8

thejazzpianoma, Aug 29, 10:20am
One that's on fire so I can buy a VW with the insurance payout. (sorry monaro, couldn't resist!)

monaro17, Aug 29, 10:21am
Haha. Each to their own- after all there is no accounting for taste ;)

timid_, Aug 29, 10:23am
Yeah, with the V8, actually with both I really thought about the fuel, but I'm not really one to rumble (usually light footed), but won't back down if someone wanted to test me l o l.

mugenb20b, Aug 29, 10:23am
I didn't think there was much difference in fuel consumption between the two. The V8 can return 10.5L / 100km.

If you've got the power, you have to use it.

monaro17, Aug 29, 10:25am
Excellent. ;)

monaro17, Aug 29, 10:28am
My V6 Commodore got 7.9L/100km on a return trip to Hanmer (using cruise control). My in-law's V8 got 10.2

timid_, Aug 29, 10:29am
L O L, spoken like a true Holden Head.

timid_, Aug 29, 10:30am
Would be a larger difference wouldn't it!V6, V8!More guzzle, more pain at the pump, more temptation to fill up and run! l o l!

thejazzpianoma, Aug 29, 10:31am
You're not doing much for the reputation of Southerners and backwardness.

monaro17, Aug 29, 10:31am
So back to the O.P., if you don't mind using a little more fuel then go for the V8, if you keep it long enough then the money you saved in depreciation will pay for the extra fuel usage over the V6.

morrisman1, Aug 29, 10:32am
Im just showing everyone what mean burnouts VWs can do. No jappa could do a burnout like that

patiki1, Aug 29, 10:46am
Get the ss,leave the v6 for the cops, taxi's and sales reps.

kevymtnz, Aug 29, 11:03am
V8s are old school now slow n hungry most 6s these days are eating 8s

clark20, Aug 29, 11:46am
Tough one here as the early models were not great, better to get a 2007/8 SS, they learnt how to build them better after a year or 2.

Give me an FX also known as a48 - 53 series! or a mint FJ panel van without side windows.

kazbanz, Aug 29, 3:47pm
Or distinct lack of in this case

kazbanz, Aug 29, 3:52pm
Timid only you can answer that question.
You already know the V8 is going to suck more fuel
But it wll depreciate slower.
I must admit if its a weekend fun car I'd buy the 8
As a daily driver i'd buy the 6

Ohh in either case make sure you have a towrope on board to tow all the broken down VW and Fiats home

pollymay, Aug 29, 4:32pm
Most 60's american cars are slow and ugly, corolla could beat them. So why bother buying one right!

rob_man, Aug 29, 7:18pm
69 Monaro, 327 manual.

splinter67, Aug 29, 7:45pm
Is that why your selling your v8 maybe you should learn to put your foot down if the little jappas are betting you LOL

OP buy the v8 will be heaps more fun
