Hi guys.
I have a 1999 Honda Odyssey.
About 18 months ago I had the front breaks done. Rotors, pad, etc done.
6 months later I did the same for the back.
About 6 months ago noticed 1st thing in the morning that we get breaks sequel noises.
If I left foot break in quietens down after a few hundred yards, or so. If not takes a bit longer.
Today makes the 3rd time I've taken back to same place to get checked.
Of course, no noise, as I live in Papamoa and repair place at the Mount.
Front and back have been check, each time and pads still look like new.
Any ideas as driving neighbours nuts!
Thanks,
Ian

Hey, thats my line!

Is there a stone stuck somewhere!

ianalice1, Aug 23, 3:56am
Don't think so.
Each time, they tell me, they take calliper off and check the assembly over.

careful, you'll brake it.

We've got a vehicle that squeaks sometimes. The only thing I can think of is you are missing some of the anti squeal brake hardware you are meant to have on there.

I I think I really need to take a brake from this place.

No there is a break noise, usually a snapping sound. common on Hondas, bit like a part falling off noise.
Suzuki wagon I have has similar noise only when backing out of drive. not continuous , so I pick mine is caused by slight distortion of the disc and the material of which the pads are made of. Done it for 4 years now

That in ter rest ing. thanks

If something as simple as that is upsetting you you may well need to admit yourself to a psychiatric ward for a break. No point going to the grave stressing about something so minor.

moosie_21, Aug 23, 6:01am
Check how much brake dust is on your mags. If it's lots I would suspect last place put on cruddy pads and you are now paying the price. Only way to solve this is change pads.

unbeatabull, Aug 23, 6:15am
I bet they didn't put any anti-squeal coating on the back of the pads and didn't grease/lube the contact parts where the pad sits in the caliper. 99% of squeaks I've come across are caused by this - the others are caused by lips on the rotors/worn or a stone or other object in the system, and the other very minute time can be caused by crap pads/rotors/slides etc.

friendly_prawn, Aug 23, 6:17am
jeeze why would I want to admit myself to a psychiatric ward. I have only just escaped!
Hmmm, now where did I put my meds.

kazbanz, Aug 23, 6:20am
Could be as simple as you having too hard a compound pad. Given that after 18 months they look as good as new

ianalice1, Aug 23, 6:49am
Thanks guys, I'll what's it like in the morning and no not noticed any break dust on the wheels.
Oh and friendly_prawn, hope you get back on your meds. Our son tens to go off them and does cause problems.
